Before reading the RX 580 Mining Overclocks. Please make sure to read the guide about overclocking basics to avoid any unnecessary damage and risk to your system. (Click Here)
Tools required to tune your RX 580 8GB Overclocks in Windows 10:
Any RX 4xx or 5xx series cards will require you to set on compute mode. So after installing your AMD Radeon Drivers, visit your AMD Drivers settings and set your RX cards on compute mode. This will improve your hashrate dramatically.
Compute Mode will need to be set through the AMD Radeon Settings.
Temporary BIOS Modding
If you are using Claymore Miner then you can use the -strap parameter and the -rxboost. It goes from -strap 1 to -strap 6.
Proper straps for different memory types:
- Hinyx is 1 or 4
- Micron is 2, 3 or 5
- Elpida is 1, 3 or 4
- Samsung is 2 or 5
- A rig with 2 Samsung Memory types and 1 Hinyx in this order:
Samsung, Samsung, Hynix > -strap 1,1,2
As for the –rxboost we recommend using the value of 20 or 30 – try both and see what works best for you.
If you are using different mining software, there will be different parameters. Please look into the Readme file of whichever miner you are planning to use and find out what they use for memory timing optimization.
Make sure to include the full path to the miner EthDcrMiner64.exe in your start.bat file so that the straps are applied successfully.
Learn more about different miners by following our Getting Started series for different mining softwares.
Permanent BIOS Modding
Guide coming soon… It will help with Linux based mining systems or if you just want to flash your GPU BIOS permanently.
Mining specific operating systems will use different ways to apply BIOS Modding as well as Overclocking.
Not all GPUs are made equal. Your mileage might vary.
